华康谈楷体发想自清末民初弘一法师的书法，设计师长年欣赏此书风，并对书法艺术有所研究，因此以前人「藏锋稚拙」的书法风格为基础，自我内化为谈楷体的架构，笔画遒劲刚健，复古意味浓厚。不过，圆润的线条加上活泼的骨架，使这套字型看起来端庄又不失活力。适合用于书刊、散文、诗词；稍加搭配活泼轻盈的色调，也能呈现不同于传统书法的活泼气息。
