方正大标宋源自1970年上海字模一厂设计的行头宋，是专门为大字号标题设计的，可以说是方正小标宋的姊妹。相对于方正小标宋，方正大标宋的笔画略粗，中宫略为收紧，这符合大字宜紧密，小字宜宽绰的书法规律。但总体而言，这两款字体风格很接近。方正大标宋笔画圆润饱满，字形凝重沉稳，适用于报刊、书籍的各类标题字。
